The Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE) is an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation.

ABBE is the leading specialist awarding body in the built environment sector; specialising in qualifications related to the built environment and construction industries.

ABBE provides accreditation for vocational qualifications in a number of areas, including energy assessment, surveying, valuation, thermography, party wall, insulation and building treatments, fire risk assessment, town planning and building controls.

Upkeep chooses to work with ABBE as they provide quality vocational awards that meet industry needs and provide routes to professional career paths.  As an accredited awarding body, ABBE’s role is to develop valid and reliable qualifications which are responsive to the needs of the sector. ABBE qualifications are recognised by employers and institutions across the UK.

ABBE qualifications are designed to provide the building blocks for a successful career in the built environment; with certificates available for individual units of competence, as well as for full qualification achievements.

ABBE plays a crucial role in developing qualifications that meet industry requirements and prepare people for, or help individuals to progress to, specific work roles.

ABBE offers qualifications to individuals and employers through a network of ABBE approved assessment centres.

Once you have completed the five modules that make up the Upkeep/ABBE Certificate in Diagnosing Defects and Ordering Repairs, you will have to sit an assessment.

Upkeep Training will register you as a candidate with ABBE – ask us for the registration form. The assessment lasts half a day and covers all the key topics from the courses you will have completed.

The questions will be similar to the practical work involved as part of the course modules.
