UPKEEP DDOR ONLINE ASSESSMENT
Upkeep Training have adapted our five Diagnosing Defects and Ordering Repairs (DDOR) courses into a format for online delivery. If you complete all five modules you can then take an exam online to gain accreditation from the Awarding Body of the Built Environment (ABBE).
The five modules are:-
- Basic Building Construction
- Plumbing wastes and Drains
- Domestic Electrical and Heating Installations
- Damp, Condensation and Mould
- Repairs Reporting Skills
Each of the five courses consist of a days online training. They are staggered, so if you wish you can take all five and then the ABBE exam.
If you are working towards an ABBE certificate, we recommend you begin by taking the Basic Building Construction course. This gives you an insight into how buildings are constructed, their foundations and components. You will learn about roof space, the different type of roofs and how to spot commons defects in in walls and roofs that can lead to water penetration
The next three modules deal with the inside of properties. The Plumbing Wastes & Drains and Domestic Electrical & Heating Installations, provide an overview into the components of these systems, how they operate, and how to diagnose defects.
Condensation Damp & Decay teaches staff how to spot condensation and tackle it before it spirals out of control and you are faced with damp problems that are costly to repair.
The fifth and final element is Repairs Reporting Skills. This covers landlord and tenant responsibilities regarding maintenance, what should be prioritised and teaches diagnostic questioning skills so the right orders are raised. This process is all the more important now that Covid 19 has meant more remote working is taking place and home visits are being kept to a minimum.
Once you have completed all five modules you can apply to take the DDOR exam, which covers elements from the courses. This ABBE certificate is a nationally recognised qualification that can help with career progression.
